Comprehensive Studies & Findings
The Tapia Lab is dedicated to exploring the ability of Saccharomyces cerevisiae, commonly known as baker's or brewer's yeast. This species has the ability to endure extreme dehydration and revive upon rehydration. Our research delves into understanding the molecular mechanisms that drive this survival strategy. Our goal is to uncover the underlying processes that allow S. cerevisiae to withstand and recover from desiccation. By gaining a deeper understanding of these mechanisms, we strive to uncover insights that could have broader applicaitons in biotechnology and preservation of medicines.
The Patterson Lab is dedicated to unravel the complexities of weed biology. Located at Michigan State University, our research aims to explore and understand the molecular and genetic basis of traits that make certain species of plants weedy. By investigating these mechanisms the work done here can contribute to developing innovative strategies to manage and mitigate damage done by weeds to agricultural feilds, ensuring sustainable agricultural practices and food security.
